Two owners from new with critical service records

First year for the 944, and as such a favorite of many (considered the simplest, lightest and some say most charming). This is one of the near impossible to find automatics. Two owners from new with service records. The 2nd owner of the last 35 years used this as a pleasure car and always garaged it. The car has been driven very little over the last 10 years and the total miles are estimated by the former owner to be at something less than 70k (the speedo works but the odometer stopped working at 48k). In 2017 the owner took the car in for a major service in which ALL the recommended service items for the 944 were addressed and more.

It retains its original paint & original interior, both of which are very impressive for their age. This is a no hit & no body rot, only 2 owner example that has had the recommended maintenance over the years with RECEIPTS to prove it.

Air Conditioning is blowing COLD and has been recently updated.

The car had a $7,000 ‘MAJOR SERVICE’ performed in 2017 by Foreign& ClassicAuto Center, with very few miles since this service. In this service the following items were replaced;

– Timing Chain / and then later recommended ‘Retention’ of timing & balance belt
– AC compressor
– AC Dryer / Receiver
– Belt
– Water Pump, roller & belt guard
– Thermostat & circlip
– Left & right Engine Mounts
– Crankshaft seal, Balance Shaft seals, Cam seal, Belt Guard & Cam Belt
– Gear, Cam Belt metal
– Seal Crank Pulley
– Countershaft seal
– O-ring & Seal
– Roller Cam seal
– Wires, spark Plus & Ignition
– Replace rear Shocks
– resurface front Rotors
(AND …. older receipts for things like tie rods, radiator, etc, that DOCUMENT that the car has had the ‘recommended maintenance’ and care called out for the 944 Porsche)

NEW Bridgestone Tires installed late 2021 with almost NO miles since. The former owner was an 77 year old gentleman who owned (loved & cared for) the car the last 35 years.

The 944 is considered to be a great entry level collectable Porsche and currently a bargain buy.

The 944 is a 1980’s icon which has been steadily going up in value. It’s now recognized as one of the most practical and most robust of the Porsche platforms.

Quote from Doug DeMuro (of YouTube fame, and Cars & Bids fame):

“The 944 is a special car that’s starting to get more interest among Porsche enthusiasts, as it boasts an exciting driving experience and nimble handling thanks to its small proportions and 50/50 weight distribution”.

QUOTES from other collector owners:

“1983 was a great year for the 944 with manual steering, steel suspension, forged connecting rods, no faulty brake sensors or cruise control, the charming ‘early dash’ and the lightest of the production run.”
“with the 944 it’s NOT about speed, but the whole package”
“the 944 is finally getting the long overdue recognition it’s always deserved”
“These cars, especially the simpler 83-85 models are reliable and very robust”
